Briggs & Forrester secure M&E Contract at Kings Cross Redevelopment

Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services are delighted to have been awarded the mechanical and electrical contract on Argent’s S1 Building at Kings Cross Central in London with BAM Construct UK.

Engineering Services will provide the mechanical, electrical and public health services for the new build 12 storey commercial office, which will be provided as shell and core for future tenant fit-out. The office building will comprise of 204,000 square foot of office accommodation with two retails units at ground level.

The scheme anticipates a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating which is being targeted by utilising energy efficient measures such as connecting to the district heating system, using highly efficient cooling, applying low g-value glazing and a highly efficient lighting design to drive down the overall building energy demand.

Low Energy Consultancy, Briggs & Forrester’s energy consultancy division, have worked alongside the design team to confirm where changes to the mechanical and electrical design specification effect the overall BREEAM rating target and where possible, have made recommendations on improvements or alternatives that ultimately benefit the end client.
